Early in his career, orthopaedic surgeon Dr Dave Janda focused on preventing sports injuries. He found that the most frequent injuries in baseball and softball were caused by sliding into fixed basepads. Diving head-first into fixed basepads caused especially severe injuries. Janda proposed breakaway basepads — that cut injuries by 99 percent and saved billions of dollars in health care costs. Janda discovered, much to his surprise, that the sports industry did not want to know about the prevalence of such injuries, and was not even interested in preventing them. They told him to stop doing such studies, threatened him with lawsuits, and threatened physical harm to his family. Undaunted, he persisted.
Janda then focused on commotio cordis, heart injuries caused by sudden severe impact to the chest. A lot of people were dying after being struck in the chest by baseballs and softballs, and nobody knew why. There wasn't much research on this, but General Motors Research Labs found that when the air-bag was deploying, there were people actually dying from the impact of the air-bag. Here we transcribe key excerpts of Dr Peter McCullough’s interview of Dr Dave Janda that was previously cross-posted:
'We did a series of studies — if the impact occurred at the precise phase of the cardiac cycle, it could short-circuit the heart, sending it into a ventricular arrhythmia, leading to death. Doesn't matter whether it's an air-bag canister or a baseball. At the time, defibrillators (AEDs) were really not prevalent in schools. But if you had an AED and could use it, you could save that child's life; he had a much greater chance of coming back.'
'We published those studies, and got a lot of grief from the baseball manufacturers, from the sports industry. One day, I got a call from Oprah Winfrey's producers.... We did the show, we talked about the bases, we talked about impact injuries. [16'] At the time AEDs were not in schools, they were almost unknown — they were for the paramedics. There was a family on the show whose son had died from commotio cordis sustained in a lacrosse accident. They talked about this, and how it was preventable if an AED had been available. Two weeks after the show, a 13-year-old child suffers a heart attack after getting hit in the chest with a baseball. Went down, turned blue, respiration fell to zero. Two cardiologists were in the crowd, ran out, immediately started giving that child CPR. The child did not respond. A mom in the crowd got on her phone, and called 911. She knew the police officers in their community had defibrillators, because there had just been a public service announcement. A police officer came out, got the AED out, shocked that child's chest. He came back to life.
'A reporter from the Chicago Tribune was there, and went to those two cardiologists, and asked 'Did you know an AED in this particular scenario would work?' 'No.' 'How did that AED get here?' 'A police officer brought it.' 'Who called the police?' 'That lady right there.' The reporter went over to talk to that mom, and said 'Are you a nurse?' 'No.' 'A doc?' 'No.' 'Are you...?' 'I'm a mom.' 'How did you know to call the police to bring the AED?' 'I saw it on Oprah.'
‘The point is this: Every person can have control of another person's destiny, or their own health destiny, by being educated and empowered. That's why what you do, and what I try to do, is so important. Which is why the censorship-industrial complex targets people like you and me. By providing information, we empower every person to have control of their health, their life, their future. And that's what the censorship-industrial complex does not want.'
'After that base study was published, I was seeing patients in my clinic, and my nurse comes to me, says 'the White House is on the phone.' This was in the spring of 1988. President Reagan would like to know whether you'd be interested in coming to Washington and working on health care policy. I said, you know, you're very good, who put you up to this? 'No, really.' Tell you what, give me your name and phone number, I'll call you right back. She did, and I called her back, and the White House switchboard operator comes on. And I thought, they're really good. Anyway I thought it was a practical joke. Anyway I ended up going to Washington and working with then Surgeon General C Everett Koop on health care policy. The focus was on prevention, on empowerment of the individual.
'Let me tell you the first assignment he gave me. This now dovetails with covid. In the spring of 1988, he said, Dave, I got a favor to ask you. You live in Ann Arbor. The Gerald Ford Presidential Library is in Ann Arbor. I've been trying to get some information, because I've been fighting internally in the Administration about this new vaccination policy, and legislation that was passed in 1986, that was going to go into effect in October of 1988. I've been fighting this, and I've been trying to get the data from the swine flu vaccine, and I've been blocked. This is the Surgeon General. Every avenue I tried to go to get the data, I've been blocked. But I found out it's in the Ford Library. When you go back home, can you go there and sift through. -- Sure. I got there, and I had actually a couple of patients who had worked there. I said, I'm looking for this, I'm doing this on behalf of the Surgeon General, can...? -- Sure. We got the data on the swine flu vaccine. It showed that in 1976, Gerald Ford was running for re-election, was being told, there's this big pandemic coming, this swine flu, it's going to adversely affect the election, you need to push this vaccine through quickly. We've gotta get this through. Well, they did. As you know, it led to at least 53 people dying, and over 500 people developed severe neurological issues, Guillain-Barré syndrome. This was the data I got for Dr Koop. [22'] He was pushing internally within the Reagan Administration. This legislation that was passed in 1986, and going now into effect in 1988, it's going to give liability protection to the pharmaceutical companies, and you're not going to be able to stop a vaccine that's causing harm, based on this legislation. You can't litigate it. You can't hold the companies responsible.'
'They essentially told him -- here comes the money again -- Koop, shut up. The legislation is in place. It's done. Dr Koop said to me, Dave, in your medical lifetime, you're going to see this come back to haunt this country. He said, Dave, I'm not going to be around... When you see a vaccine being pushed that hasn't been adequately tested -- because that's what happened in 1976 -- you can't be silent. You have to raise your hand, and you have to shout from the rooftops. In 1976, they pulled it [swine flu vaccine] because they didn't have the liability protection.'
'He said, Dave, you have to step up. Believe me, it's going to be as hard as it was with the threats you had from the sports industry. That's going to be nothing compared to what you, and a few others in medicine -- and it will only be a few others -- because the way this is going, medicine is becoming so corporate, that the people running these corporations, in conjunction with the Government, they have a financial tie. They will do everything in their power to stop people from knowing the truth.'
'One of the groups that Dr Koop warned me about was people in the Government that were owned -- more dedicated to their corporate 'colleagues' than the public whom they were there to serve....'
'I saw it coming with the implementation of Obamacare... What we experienced in covid came out of Obamacare, [and hidden in other legislation, the stimulus bill]. It empowered these Government agencies, the Faucis of the world, to develop protocols that were actually tied to the corporate side of medicine. [34'] These would then be delivered to us [doctors] on the front lines, and we would have to implement these, because it talked about penalties to providers who did not go along with these protocols. That was all in the stimulus bill.'
'When you boil it [the globalist control] all down, it's about stripping people of their freedoms and their liberties.... Fauci, Birx, Redifield, they're just middle-level puppets. They think they're high-up, but they're not. This is coming from the very top of the financial world, the top of the pyramid, the Rothchilds, the Rockefellers, the Warburgs...'
[41'] 'A White House meeting, 1988, I'm seated next to a very well-known political figure, said, Dave, we can't talk here, this is the White House, the walls have ears. So [later] we're walking down Pennsylvania Avenue, I asked him, Based on what we saw in this meeting, what percentage of people, in Congress, agencies, their aides, across the board, legislatively, executive branch, judiciary, what percentage of people in this Government are either controlled, bribed, compromised? -- About 95%. That person is no longer alive. If I walked down Pennsylvania Avenue with that person today, and asked him that same question, I believe that person would say 99%. Why they do this is power, money, and add to this, they're compromised -- on a number of different levels. Whether it's money, some activities -- they're compromised.'
Looking at the swine flu episode of 1976 provides a fascinating glimpse into a predecessor of the covid episode of 2020 - 23. President Ford, running for another term of office after his installation as President, was informed by CDC officials of an influenza from pigs with pandemic potential. Concerned about possible impact on the election, he ordered a crash program to develop a vaccine against swine flu, for mass vaccination. The drug companies complied, but insurance companies warned them in the summer of 1976 that they would not provide insurance coverage. Without it, the drug companies refused to proceed beyond bulk manufacture, and requested or demanded Government (meaning taxpayer) insurance coverage. President Ford urged quick Congressional action, and with this enacted, the swine flu mass vaccination program started in October. The predicted pandemic failed to materialize, but about 50 cases of vaccine-caused Guillain-Barré syndrome, a neurological disorder, did. In mid-November, President Ford (who had lost the election) suspended the swine flu vaccination program for one month, and in mid-December made the suspension permanent.
Harvard Professor of Government Richard Neustadt and Dr Harvey Fineberg relate this story in their book, The Swine Flu Affair, based on interviews with the health policy decision-makers at the time. Their detailed account reads like a detective story with many precursors of what was to follow with the covid episode nearly 50 years later. The cast of characters is different, but the fear of a pandemic, the pressures of a presidential election, the rushed vaccine development, the ambitions of health officials to expand their prerogatives, and the concerns of drug companies and their insurers about potentially catastrophic costs if anything were to go wrong will all be familiar to anyone who has followed the covid episode.
Neustadt and Fineberg wisely advise more nuanced risk assessment, probabalistic comparisons of both a pandemic and a mass vaccination campaign, public discussion among all parties at interest before implementing any such program, deference by health officials toward those chosen by popular election, self-restraint by presidents and agency directors against the tendency to bet their entire reputations on one unlikely though alarming outcome, and convening of ad-hoc groups (rather than permanent commissions) to advise on technical and policy matters. Some of this advice was followed by new HEW Secretary Califano and others in 1977, but the restless ambitions of health officials to usurp political power grew exponentally during the past half-century. Also, as Surgeon General Everett Koop predicted to Dr Dave Janda in 1988, the exemption from legal due process granted to the pharmaceutical industry for vaccines did indeed come back to haunt the nation, big-time, in 2020 and afterward. Swine flu vaccine was taken off the market after fewer than 50 cases of Guillain-Barré syndrome. The covid mRNA vaccine, with millions of deaths and ‘adverse effects’ such as myocarditis, heart attacks, strokes, and neurological impairment, is still officially supported, and included on the virtually required Childhoold Vaccination List as a condition of school attendance. The difference? No legal liability, plus a stealth system of top-down control that imposes rigid treatment ‘protocols’ on all doctors. Patients themselves will have to change this — for their survival and health.
